Todd English is one among the most decorated, charismatic and respected chef in the world. During his career, he has received a large amount of accolade from others. Some of his accomplishments include most prestigious publications of food industry, established most popular restaurant band in the world, published 3 critically highly praised cookbooks, and lastly, he was recognized as one among the people magazine’s “fifty Most Beautiful People.”
In 1991, Todd is named as the national rising star chef by James beard foundation and he caught culinary world eye. In 1994, he was named as best chef all over the northeast, by James Beard Foundation. In 1999, he was named as one among their top fifty tastemakers by the nation’s restaurant news. In 2001, Todd was awarded as Bon Appetit’s Restaurateur of the Year and also named as one among the People Magazine’s fifty Most Beautiful People.
At the age of 15, he started his cooking career. When he was 20 years old, he joined the culinary institution of America and finished in 1982. Then he continuously moved to different places for honing his craft such as la cote Basque in New York, Paraccuchi in the Locando D’Angello, and Dal Pescatore in the Canto Sull O’lio. Then in Italy, he developed his own way of cooking with unique approach and style. At the age of 25, he return back to America and worked as an executive chef in the northern Italian restaurant, in Cambridge. As an executive chef, he served for three years and gained lots of praise from both the public and press.

Today, in Charlestown, Massachusetts, Todd is the chef as well as owner of olives. Olive is a fifty-seat storefront restaurant, which was opened on April 1989. Due to the interpretive Mediterranean cuisine prepared by English, has made the olive to gain lots of applause over national as well as international level. Recently, Todd has opened his restaurant olive under different names in different locations such as Olive NY in the Union Square, Olives DC in the Washington, DC, Olives Las Vegas in Las Vegas, and Olives Aspen at St. Regis Hotel in Colorado, Aspen, and Olives Tokyo opened in 2003 in the Roppongi Hills development.
In New York, Todd has 4 figs restaurant in the Boston area as well as at the La Guardia airport. This restaurant provides handmade pastas, eclectic and traditional pizzas. Other Todd’s restaurants include Tuscany in Connecticut, Bonfire steakhouse in the park plaza hotel of Boston. Kingfish Hall is the first seafood concept of Todd in Historic Faneuil Hall of Boston, fish club, second seafood concept in Seattle Marriott Waterfront that was opened in 2003. In earlier to 2004, Todd has opened two new ventures such as Queen Mary 2 of Cunard Line and also Orlando hosts BlueZoo at the dolphin hotel.
Like Todd, his restaurants have also received more applause. The olive restaurant of Todd was considered as the best new restaurants by the Boston magazine. The gourmet magazine honored the restaurant as best top table and food and also it is considered as number favorite restaurant of Boston by zagat. Figs also awarded as “hot concept” by the world’s restaurant news.
